This is one of the hardest things to do as a parent. Especially if you are an ambitious person. I never necessarily had my future mapped out, but I would have a grand idea in my head and go for it. And for the first few years of fatherhood I did this as well. That has grave consequences. The work you have to put in to regain your household after surrendering it to every whim and letting it run on its own, rather than taking the position you were created to be in, is huge. Seemingly insurmountable sometimes. But faithfully putting your family first as the #1 mission field that King Jesus gave us has benefits beyond anything anyone could ever achieve in this work.
